Gurugram: In the midst of protest with local right-wing clothes by offering Namaz in the open, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said on Sunday that everyone must hold religious events in their place of worship.
People who have any faith must avoid organizing these events on the road or public places without local administration permission, VIJ added.
“Everyone must arrange their religious activities in their respective religious sites.
People must refrain from organizing religious events on the road and public places without permission from the local government, and it must apply to all,” Minister said to reporters on Ambala.
Comments come on the recent protest heel by several local groups against Namaz offered in the open.
The right-wing group in Gurgaon has demanded that Muslims be allowed to offer Namaz “only on the mosque and idgah”.
Recently, Gurgaon police also arrested around 25 people, including members of the right-wing clothing, because they tried to disrupt Friday prayers.
On November 5, Samyukt Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, a local clothing conglomerate, organized Puja Govardhan on the designated Namaz site in Sector 12.
This event was attended by BJP officials such as Suraj Pal and Kapil Mishra, among others.
Overcoming anyone who occupies a public place to offer prayer, Mishra has said, “If people from various religions, faith and sect continue to occupy the public space open on one day every week, it will produce blockade all the way and park.” Meanwhile, quoting “objections from local residents and residential associations”, District Administration last week pulled permission for Namaz at eight sites 37 ‘appointed’ in the city.
The Muslim community has now urged the authority of citizenship to clear the encroachment of around 19 properties of the waqf board.
They have also formed a panel of 21 members to open dialogue with local authorities and state political leadership in this issue.
The community has stated that they are forced to offer Namaz in an open area because the number of mosques in Gurgaon is insufficient.
“There isn’t enough mosque in Gurgaon and is convenient to offer Namaz close to the workplace.
It doesn’t take a few minutes,” said Mohd Adeeb, chairman of the panel, said.
The opposition to Namaz in the open area, he added, is a recent development and the general public still has no problems with.
