New Delhi: The Women’s National Commission on Thursday wrote to the Delhi Police Chief who was looking for an investigation into a website that was now dead allegedly uploaded photos of many Muslim women and put them on “auction”, NCW said.
The Commission has requested a detailed report taken within 10 days, he said.
Chairman NCW Rekha Sharma has requested Delhi Police Commissioner Intervention Balaji Srivastava to investigate websites that put pictures of many Muslim women with condescending comments.
In a statement, NCW said it had taken Awareness of Suo Motu for media reports that said that a website called ‘Sulli Transaction’ on an internet platform called ‘Github’ was uploading pictures of many Muslim women including journalists, activists, analysts, artists and researchers With comment insulting and put it for “auction”.
“Chairman MS Rekha Sharma has written a letter to the Police Commissioner, Delhi looks for intervention to investigate this problem and to submit brilliantly under the relevant section so that the perpetrators cannot escape the punishment,” said the statement.
It is said that detailed actions taken by reports in this problem must be informed to the commission within 10 days.
