Ahmedabad: The lion number in Gujarat has officially crossed 700 this year, registering a 6-8% increase in the population, the resource said in the State Forestry Department.
This increase was recorded in the ‘Poonam Avlokan’ drive (observation during the full moon), Report Himanshu Kaushik.
The exercise was taken from last year.
Officials of the Forest Department said the official population of the lion could be between 710 and 730.
In 2020, 674 animals were recorded at a rate of 28.9% during 2019.
Previously high at the growth rate was 27% in 2015 for 2010.
The 2015 count was 523 lion.
