Paris: Lionel Messi has been tested negatively for Covid-19 and is now back in France and will continue training “in the coming days”, Paris Saint-Germain announced on Wednesday.
Seven times Ballon d’Or Winner was tested positive for the temporary virus in Argentina his original last week but flew back to Paris on Wednesday.
He missed the French Cup PSG victory from Vannes on Monday.
The club does not say if Messi will be available for their first Ligue 1 match since the winter holidays, in Lyon on Sunday.
“The test carried out by Leo Messi is negative for Covid-19.
He has arrived in Paris and he will continue with the group in the coming days,” PSG said in a statement.
Messi has experienced a difficult start to live in the French capital since coming out emotionally from Barcelona last summer.
He just scored one goal in 11 league appearances for PSG, even though he had been caught five times in the Champions League.
The French capital giants also said that Layvin Kurzawa Full-Back had been positively tested for Covid on Wednesday and was in self isolation.
Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, defender Juan Bernat, back-up goalkeeper Sergio Rico, Danilo Pereira midfielder and teenager Nathan Bitumazala has a positive covid test results in the past week.
