Indian prices make alien liquor (IMFL) will likely drop 20% throughout the board while the price of beer can change a little.
The Excise Ministry will announce a new task structure for the IMFL and beer on Tuesday, when excise officials will meet with liquor retailers to discuss new distribution structures.
However, some retailers say that may need two more days to get shares at a new price.
The Excise Ministry has a series of meetings with leading liquor and beer for the past few months after representation of various bodies related to the trade of liquor.
The consumption of the IMFL in this country declined due to the above revised price in April 2020.
The price of the IMFL has increased by almost 40% -50% in two phases since the pandemic is set in.
In the last quarter of 2020-21 and the first two quarters of 2021-22, liquor consumption fell 30% -35% compared to the same period in 2019-20.
The trend continued in the third fiscal quarter of October, when sales fell 20%, even though it was a lively month.
The Excise Ministry has verbally convey information on changes in the task structure at ex-distillery prices for IMFL and ex-brewery price (EBP) for beer from next week.
“Detailed circular can be released on Monday night or on Tuesday,” said an IMFL company executive.
While there is a massive decrease in the IMFL request, beer requests witness the leap.
The price of beer is cut on October 2020 times 20% -30%.
The executive of the top beer company shows that there has been a strong demand growth since the price decline.
“We get a very encouraging response,” Executive added.
West Bengal is a market of 14.1 million (1.4 crore) Cases of Hard IMFL which includes whiskey, rum, vodka, and 8 million (80 lakh cases) beer every year.
The total IMFL consumption at 2020-21 is slightly more than 10 million cases.
In the first four months of 2021, beer consumption has crossed 50 lakh cases, which is almost 60% of annual beer consumption in the state.
Beer consumption is expected to cross 1 Crore Case Mark in Bengal this year.
