Patna: Fake liquor claims four more living in ‘dry’ bihar.
The incident occurred in Mohammadpur in the Gopalganj district on Wednesday.
This is the third Hooch tragedy in the state within 11 days.
Four people have died in Siwan on October 24 and eight more in Saraiya in Muzaffarpur on 28 and 29 October after consuming fake liquor.
The deceased was identified as Santosh, Chote Lal Soni, Chote Lal Prasad and one Mukesh RAM.
At least four people, who were also suspected of consuming toxic drinks, were undergoing treatment at a government hospital.
They complained about nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting and other typical symptoms for toxic hooch consumption, the authorities said.
Gopalganj DM Nawal Kishore Choudhary, SP Anand Kumar and other senior authorities rushed to Mohammadpur with the medical team as soon as the death was revealed on Wednesday morning.
SP said they consumed liquor at the Mukesh’s house who died and one Chotu RAM at Chamar Turia in Mohammadpur on Tuesday night.
“They started dying one by one.
The postmortem examination they are being carried out and Viscera will be preserved for further analysis,” SP said and added that medical surveys were being carried out in and around Mohammadpur to identify whether there were other people.
He said three people were arrested and at least 36 bags of liquor had been confiscated from both houses.
“Those who were arrested were being interrogated,” he said.
Kumar said Sunil Ram’s Mukesh brother was in prison after the police arrested him with 31 liters of liquor in September.
“Father Chotu Nagendra Ram and Brother Ramanand Ram are also involved in smuggling liquor.
We try to make sure the source from which liquor is carried,” he said.
