Zurich: Switzerland has expanded his sanctions against Belarus, said the government on Wednesday, joining other countries in acting after the Belarusian authorities sparked anger by intercepting Ryanair flights in May and capturing the dissident blogger above.
The European Union last month imposed extensive economic sanctions on Belarus, targeting the main export industry and access to finance.
The Swiss government has added 78 individuals and seven organizations to the sanctions list for Belarus, the State Secretariat for economic affairs to say on its website.
The steps come into effect at 1600 GMT.
Switzerland first imposed sanctions against Belarus in 2006 to protest what was called a violation of the rules of the law and human rights.
