Kottayam: The Government Medical College (MCH) Hospital here will have facilities for liver transplant operations in two months, said Health Minister Vena George.
Speaking after inaugurating various development projects worth more than Rs 8.89 Crore on MCH on Tuesday, the minister said that preparation was being carried out to start a liver transplant operation.
He also said that MCH was on the rise with modern facilities and settings for the care of ordinary people.
Some projects have been completed in the last five years to expand MCH basic facilities.
This allows MCH to become a top hospital in this country to provide the highest number of free care and announced as the winner of the ‘Topperforming General Hospital’ in this country, he added.
He also said that the community had been formed to prevent false propaganda to make people withdraw from the process of organ donations.
Speaking on that occasion, Cooperation Minister V N Vasavan said that the effort was carried out to start the Hematology Department at MCH.
He also said that RS 12 lakh funds have been provided for this from MLA funds to buy equipment for the liver transplant surgery department.
