LONDON: Liverpool’s teen midfielder Harvey Elliott said he had been overwhelmed by “love and support” he had received since injuring his ankle in a 3-0 win at Leeds.
Elliott suffered a terrible injury after the challenge by Leeds defender Pascal Struijk, sent after the VAR review.
The 18-year-old received a long treatment on the Elland road court before being confirmed, leaving players from both teams looking confused.
Elliott was later dismissed from the hospital in Leeds and while full severity of damage has not been confirmed, he will undergo surgery.
“I was certainly completely destroyed by what happened yesterday at Leeds, but was truly overwhelmed by the love and support shown to me by the whole world of football after injury,” Elliott wrote on Instagram on Monday.
