Livestock attacks Chennai road, Civic Care Moo

Chennai: Everyone knows livestock has the right to road on the city road.
Who doesn’t have to stop while a cow or buffalo put on a busy road or to turn to avoid cud-chewing bovines lying on the middle of the road? Complaints to the authorities rarely take you anywhere.
Self-data Chennai Corporation itself shows that less than half complaints about wild livestock received in 1913 help numbers have been considered.
The Civic body received 2,031 complaints about wild livestock in 2021, but only around 700 cows were confiscated throughout the year.
From them, 350 rounded in December; Only 350 livestock seized in the first 11 months even though there were 1,836 complaints.
On the Anna Nagar zone, 465 complaints of cattle thrests were reported last year, followed by 259 in Teynampet.
There are no areas that cannot be livestock — on Sunday, two buffaloes down the high security road near the secretariat.
In the core city, Mylapore, Triplicane and Royapettah have a number of livestock.
Maduravoyal, Bukatur, Valsaravakkam and Nanganallur are other areas with high concentrations of livestock.
Under the cattle law (Amendment Tamil Nadu), 1957, the Civic body can confiscate livestock and collect `1,550 a day as a penalty.
But this might not be enough.
Officials say livestock owners come to the corporate pound, pay a fine and take cattle, just to let it go on the road again.
Cows can be submitted to the Blue Cross if they are arrested three times, but this rule has almost never been enforced.
And it rubs.
Arun Prasanna from people for livestock in India (PFCI) said under livestock cannot be raised within city limits, but this provision must be enforced.
“The government needs to rearrange the country’s animal welfare council.
In the past six years, the community for the prevention of cruelty of animals has not had a meeting chaired by collectors.
The purpose of this board is to find a solution to such problems, but they lie,” said Prasanna.
He suggested that repetitive offenders can be given to adoption to organic farmers.
Civil officials say they face the opposition from livestock owners when they try to collect sad livestock to city streets and often have to call in the police.
They say the owner of livestock is the lobby that is well-connected politically.
When we confiscated one buffalo in Triplicane, a call from livestock owners brought a crowd of 20 people to our Gherao, “said an official with the Teynampet zone.
