Nottingham: Liam Livingstone has not been able to force it to the first English choice in the Twenty20 World Cup this year after an amazing century against Pakistan, assistant coach Paul Collingwood said on Saturday.
Livingstone hit the fastest UK Ratus T20, only 42 balls, including nine six, in a 31-run defeat by Pakistan in Nottingham on Friday.
The previous highest score in the four International Inning T20 was 29 did not come out but Turn de Force in Trent Bridge could make a 27-year-old Livingstone difficult to ignore at the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in October.
He now has two opportunities to impress in the T20 series three matches against Pakistan which continues in Headingley on Sunday before finishing at Old Trafford, Livingstone’s Lancashire Home Ground, on Tuesday.
“He raised his hand, as simple as that,” Collingwood told reporters.
“You can’t do anything other than what he did,” added the former English player, who was responsible for the squad while Chief Coach Chris Silverwood rested.
“He has two more opportunities for the next two matches.
