Lucknow: In the fourth case in one week, the wife of a PC officer on Sunday lost her ornament by a man who posed as a police officer in Chinhat.
Taking aware of the incident, Lucknow police commissioner, DK Thakur, has decided to spread the bait and intensify patrols in affected areas.
“I have directed all senior officers to resolve cases where criminals posed when the police had responded to the population in the past,” Police Commissioner said.
Police said Mansha Tiwari from Mulayam Nagar returned home with his son by e-rickshaw on Saturday afternoon.
When he reached Kamta, a man riding a motorcycle without a registration number reached the e-rickshaw and introduced himself as a police officer.
Fraudsters said the murder had occurred in the area and those wearing ornaments were not allowed to go further because the police were checking.
He asked him to wrap the ornament on a piece of paper he took in his hand and escaped from the scene.
Then, the woman reached the Kamta Police Station and informed the ADCP (East Zone) Qasim Abidi about the incident.
Abidi said a pine shot because dishonesty was registered and investigations were underway.
