Hyderabad: Bank Icici Branch Manager in Kolkata has been arrested for making RS 1.18 Crore from a frozen account by Hyderabad police cyber cells as part of the probe into the loan application fraud.
Accused of being accused of Rakesh Kumar Das allegedly made RS 36 Lakh by “commission” to facilitate fraud, officials said the officials were in footprint for months.
DAS, Branch Manager of Alipore Bank Icici, was arrested a few days ago from Kolkata and was taken to Hyderabad with a transit warrant.
He was returned in prisoners on Monday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cyber ​​Crime) KVM Prasad said the fraudsters who posed as the police from Kolkata had visited Alipore Bank Icici branch in April, carrying a fake letter.
The letter intended from being responsible for Cyber ​​cells at the Headquarters of Lalbazar Police Kolkata directed the bank manager to mendreeze seven of 12 accounts frozen by the city of Hyderabad City and transfer money to the SBI account in Hyderabad.
Quoting the letter, the DAS transferred Rs 1.18 Crore from seven accounts.
The SBI account holder, Anand Jannu, was arrested at 2.
He admitted to the police that the alleged partner, Nallamothu Anil Kumar, paid him Rs 1 lakh in the commission in return to use his bank account.
Anil was arrested on June 12.
During interrogation, Antil told investigators that he and other people were accused, Uttam Chowdhary, transferred Rs 1.18 Crore from the SBI account to various bank accounts and withdrawing money.
The defendant also admitted that he and Chowdhary paid Rs 36 Lakh to the bank manager.
“Despite knowing that the account was frozen on the orders of the police Hyderabad, the Bank manager Mendefreez was based on a fake letter from Kolkata police.
A bank can transfer any amount of individual frozen accounts only after getting a court order or with account holder approval,” said ACP.
