Mumbai: Bank Central Cooperative (DCCB) in six flood districts Maharashtra decided on Wednesday to withdraw loans to affected traders and small entrepreneurs with subsidized rates five to six percent.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by the Minister of Finance Ajit Pawar where Secretary’s Secretary of Secretary (Finance) Op Gupta and DCCBS representatives were present, the official statement said.
Decisions are expected to benefit traders, small entrepreneurs and shop owners who need capital to start again.
Heavy rain from July 21 to 23 caused flooding in various districts, including Pune, Satara, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur and Raigad, claiming more than 200 lives and caused losses worth hundreds of crores, the previous official said.
Raigad in the Coastal Konkan area is the worst district, accounting nearly 100 deaths.
The state government earlier this month announced a financial package of Rs 11,500-Crore for people affected by rain and floods, in addition to repairing work and road reconstruction and other critical infrastructure damaged in the flood.
