Quepem: Quepem police on Wednesday night arrested Prakash Deikar who fled and was accused of deceiving people with the pretext of land sales.
Deikar, 48, a resident of Bhat Wadda, Ambaulim was arrested at around 11:30 a.m.
on Wednesday at the Cuncolim when he planned to escape Chennai during his arrest.
The police recovered 11 mobile SIM cards from it which he used to avoid detection.
He was arrested under Section 406 and 420 read with 34 of the Indian criminal code.
Pi Pednekar told TII that the defendant was removed in a four-day police custody by the Judge Judge Court Judge Judge (JMFC) in Quepem.
Police said that Deikar fled over the past two years after the Quepem police registered his case in 2019.
He moved away from his family and often visited the nearest countries in an effort to avoid the police.
