Thiruvananthapuram: Local bodies in the district must transfer money from their own funds or plan funds to redeem the lack of income to Haritha Karma workers during locking.
The local government department (LSGD) recently directed local bodies to knock and plan funds to increase Viability Gap (VGF) funds to redeem the Deficit of Haritha Karma Sena’s member income.
Haritha Karma Sena workers who developed with the cost of users collected from households and commercial companies / stores cannot meet their needs due to practical difficulties in the collection of waste due to the spread of Covid-19.
City Corporation official said that at this time, the Civic body might not need to divert money from its own funds to provide VGF for Haritha Karma Sena.
Shops are still closed due to restrictions and health problems have prevented workers from being involved in collecting waste in homes where covid positive people are quarantined.
This has seized revenue basic revenue in March, April and May.
Suchitwa Mission Executive Director reported that Haritha Karma Sena workers had been active in the field despite challenges and it was very important to ensure basic income for them.
Directors suggest to take advantage of VGF for that purpose.
LSGD has provided sanctions on the proposal.
The local government secretary will ensure that in the days when the workers are on duty, they will receive the basic daily wage RS 750.
VGF will be used to bridge the gap between the expected monthly income and actual income.
According to the document prepared for the functioning of Haritha Karma Sena workers, revenue from user costs, the amount collected from sales of memo and other items is the source of monthly income.
The department has directed that special wages must be disbursed for workers if local agencies involve them in services other than doors to doors and segregation of non-biodegradable materials.
But the department shows that VGF will not be given to local bodies where basic tasks are not fulfilled regardless of ideal conditions.
All local bodies that have not made Haritha Karma Sena functional have been directed to make operations within three months.
In 2018, the government has allowed local agencies to take advantage of the determined amount of plan funds to provide VGF for six months for Haritha Karma Sena activities.
The amount was approved at RS 23,175 per ward at Gram Pancayat, Rs 46,350 per ward in the city and Rs 92,700 per ward in the corporation.
