Local poll: BJP to stay on Aiadmk Alliance

Chennai: The leader of the BJP Tamil Nadu unit on Wednesday said the party alliance with AIADMK was “firm” and will continue in the polls of local agencies in nine districts.
The announcement came the day after PMK, the Allies in front of AIDMK, decided to compete for themselves.
The committee of 16 party members under the leadership of the President of the State K Annamalai will develop a strategy for local agency polls.
At present, the party has decided “in principle” to stick to the alliance, said a senior BJP leader and members of the core committee.
National Secretary General and responsible for the Tamil Nadu C r Ravi unit has provided a nod to the State Unit to take the last call on rural local bodies, he added.
“Our alliance with AIDMK is firm and there are no differences of opinion about alliances between us,” said Vice President K S Narendran.
The Spokesman for the Narouanan Party Thirupathy echoed the same.
However, they said the state’s president would make an official statement on the party’s position on the alliance for two phase polls.
Polls will be held on October 6 and 9.
The source close to Annamalai also confirmed that they will face a rural local body poll along with AIADMK.
PMK’s decision to do so it himself is not surprising, BJP leaders say, adding, “Victory in local rural polls depends on individuals (candidates) and local scenarios.
So, the alliance will not make a lot of differences.
It will be good for the party to do it himself because Will provide an opportunity for young officials, but the BJP state leadership is not for it.
“BJP on Wednesday began to receive applications from prospective polls in nine districts, Vellore, Vellore, Vellore, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattor, Chengalpet, Kallakuruchi, Villupuram, District Tirunelveli and Tenkasi.
