Kolkata: After the gap of nearly six months the local train in West Bengal has continued running from Sunday providing great assistance to passengers.
Although the state government opens the transportation system in the phase, it does not allow local trains so far afraid that bringing so many passengers at a time in one compartment can cause the spread of Coronavirus.
In the notification issued by the East train, it is said that the local train will begin to function from Sunday and will increase step by step.
NOTICE also said that the decision to start a local train was decided after the state government directed the train authority to normalize train services in the state.
“We have asked the state government several times but the state does not allow us.
Without state permission is not possible to run local trains.
Now the country has given permission, we will try to normalize the train service as soon as possible but it is a gap six months and will take time, “Said a senior railroad official.
According to sources on the train, the current train will run with a capacity of only fifty percent.
What is quite interesting, the train authority is also not sure whether it is possible to run the train service with only fifty percent of passengers during rush hour.
“Today is Sunday and the number of low passengers but during rush hour it is difficult to control the crowd but we have instructed the train police to apply fifty percent rules strictly,” said a train official.
During the second covid wave, the train – after some agitation at various stations by passengers – have decided to run the Covid special train where passengers only on emergency tasks are allowed to rise.
Although the train said that they obeyed the rules, in fact, people took this opportunity and utilizing train services.
“Now when the government decides to organize services, more people will rise to a large crowd and which might lead to the spread of the disease,” said Anjan Pathak – a daily passenger.
This step has been valued by all parts of people, especially by snack traders who live by selling their products on the train.
“We have got a real problem over the past two years.
I did not get income.
Now the train service has begun again, I will have the opportunity to start my business again,” said a snack.
