Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has held a Lok is to resolve the case of a long-delayed property tax.
This will be done on September 25.
“A total of 500 cases will be resolved using this alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
The Civic body will offer a 50% discount for a penalty if the tax holder agrees to clear the contribution,” said Hemant Rasane, chairman of the standing committee.
He said that PMC could produce RS 52 Crore from a delayed tax case at Lok.
In accordance with PMC officials, the Civic body has crossed a 1,000 crore RS sign in property tax collection on Friday which nearly Rs 211 Crore higher than the appropriate financial period.
PMC data shows that the owner of 6.26 Lakh property pays tax this year from April 1 to August 27, 2021.
According to PMC officials, property tax is charged based on the annual value of the property.
The Civic body provides two options for payment of taxes.
They include offline and online.
Octroi and local agency tax are the main source of income for PMC.
But after the removal of property tax they provide the highest income on the Civic body.
PMC produces around Rs 14000 Crores to Rs 16,000 Crore per year through this tax.
