New Delhi: The Bill that seeks to establish a central university in the Union Ladakh area is passed on Friday at Lok Sabha, who has witnessed the opposition protest for alleged Snooping by Pegasus Spyware and other problems.
In a brief statement at the Central University (Amendment) Bill, 2021, Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan said every year, around 7,000 students came out of Ladakh to study and with the establishment of central universities, around 2,500 students would get the chance to study there.

“We want to establish a central university in Ladakh.
This is a happy coincidence that the bill was being carried on the second anniversary of the scraps of article 370,” he said.
Pradhan said the abrogation of Article 370, which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir, not a slogan but commitment.
“Under the commitment, we have provided the status of the Union Ladakh region and will establish the Sindhu Central University at a cost of Rs 760 Crore,” he said.
After the clause-wise discussion of Bill, Rajendra Agrawal, who was in the chair, announced through the bill with a sound voice.

According to the object statement, the bill seeks to change the ACT of the Central University, 2009, to provide the formation of a university called “Sindhu Central University” in Ladakh.
The University will serve all Ladakh areas that include Leh and Cargil.
The government said the university is expected to reduce imbalances in this region in the education sector and Ladakh students to get a quality higher education opportunity.
The university will help in the development of intellectual and higher education and will help improve the quality of education, he said.
