LONDON: The London Tower Bridge is stuck with the arms of the road which grew up on Monday afternoon, snolding traffic on both sides of the Thames.
Images from 127-year-old Drawbridge, one of several ranges connecting the northern and south of the British capital, show two parts of the road pointing to the sky with vehicles supported on both sides.
The bridge remained stuck at 6pm, (1700 GMT / 1300 EDT) more than three hours after the problem began.
“Because of the technical problems, the Tower Bridge is currently trapped in a lifted position, ” City of London Corp, who has a bridge, said in a statement.” We are trying to solve the problem as soon as possible.
” This bridge is opened about 800 times a year to allow large ships to pass, with time set at least 24 hours earlier.
Tower Bridge was repaired in 2006 after the mechanism was trapped four times the previous year.
Damage has been less often since, with the last incident reported on August 22, 2020, when stuck for more than one hour.
In May 1997, US President Bill Clinton was separated from Prime Minister Tony Blair when the bridge opened before the convoy could cross.
In that case there is no technical error.
Only bad time.
