Ghaziabad: 32-year-old son of Loni Mla Nandkishor Gujjar was booked on Friday for firing in the air with a gun handed over to him by the Ghaziabad forest officer.
A video showing Ashok Kumar Gupta, officers, gave a gun to Nagesh and the young man who shot from it had become a viral on social media.
Officer Forest Gupta claimed weapons in the video was the air gun that belonged to Nagesh himself and MLA’s son had given him to him because “keeping it safe”.
Mla Gujjar, however, told Ti that his son had shot in the air to scare monkeys.
Nagesh was invited to the plantation trip on Thursday when the incident occurred.
The video, which was widely circulated, showed Gupta handed the gun to Nagesh and pointed to the sky when young people get ready to shoot.
Four forest guards and other officials from the department were also seen in the video.
“It was a air weapon and owned by Nagesh himself.
Before the Drive Plantation began, Nagesh had given it to me because keeping him safe.
He was invited to the event as the guest chief.
He also planted several puppies in the area,” Gupta said.
Asked why Nagesh went to the plantation drive armed with a gun – even if it was an air gun – Loni Mla said the area was full of monkeys and his son had guarded the weapon just to scare animals.
“My son turned the air to drive away several monkeys running around,” Gujjar said.
A similar explanation was given by Gupta, forest officers.
“During the plantation trip, a group of monkeys created a disturbance in the area.
They not only flee with the candy we have saved for distribution among officials, the animals also destroyed some of the puppies.
After the plantation ran over, I returned the gun to Nagesh And he turned the air to scare the monkey, “Gupta claims.
SP (Rustic) IRAJ King said the police had registered fir against Nagesh and Gupta based on the video that had appeared.
Both have been ordered based on Section 336 (the act of endangering personal life or other people’s personal safety) from the IPC and the relevant provisions of the arms law.
“Investigation is ongoing.
If we find that the gun is normal, the arrest will be made,” he added.
On July 6, a 26-year-old man died in a shooting celebration during a friend’s bachelor party at Ghaziabad’s Lajpat Nagar.
Two people were arrested in connection with this case.
