Jaipur: Devotees of Lord Krishna of 70-80 villagers protested the illegal mining was consuming twin hills, Kankachal and Aadibadri, associated with the god during the last 242 days in the village of Tehsil Pasopa in Deeg in Bharatpur.
Delegation under the Braj Parvat Evum Paryavaran Sanrakshan Samiti (BPEP) met with leader Priyanka Gandhi’s Congress on September 11 to put pressure on the CM Ashok Gehlot to cancel the mining lease.
This movement is getting international attention among the worshipers of Krishna in the US and Canada.
Ancient scriptures say that Lord Krishna spent time doing Trance in both these hills.
Granted mining lease on 736 hectares 15 years ago in Deeg Tehsil, which come under the ground BRAJ.
Initially, mining was conducted in limited areas, while the twin hills that have religious significance is very far from the area rented.
This area used for mining the stones of stone used in building materials.
“The locals are aware in 2009 that the lease has been extended and twin hills have come under the rental area.
Since then, we have lobbied successive governments, but nothing happened,” said Pradeep Mathur of Bpeps.
This problem was highlighted in 2019 when miners allegedly began extracting stones 2000 truck every day.

Interestingly, approximately 5,232 hectares of 736 hectares is the area that had been made under the Ministry of Forestry.

The entire area falls in three tehsil Bharatpur-Deeg, Kaman and Nagar.
Protesters have received support from Kaman Mla Mandatory Ali, who sat with them at the protest site on several occasions.
Radhapriya Barsana, a member BPEP, says Priyanka Gandhi to convince them to take issue with the government party.
“Our bodies have received a call from the office of the Chief Minister to collect information regarding the same,” said Barsana, who claimed that the worshipers of Lord Krishna is the soul peaceable protest without inconvenience to anyone.
Mandatory Ali, who has been supporting the cause, has written to Gehlot to look at this issue and to provide proper hearing at the worshipers.
“This issue requires urgent attention because of the locals, worshipers and priests have been holding protests for a long time.
I will try to raise the issue in the Vidhan Sabha ongoing,” said Ali.
