Panaji: Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant said on Saturday that while 50,000 trees had been cut down for the construction of new airports in Mapa, the state government had planted 5 lakh trees.
The main minister hit environmental lovers and NGOs to oppose various projects on behalf of the environment, but did not plant a single tree in Goa.
Overcoming the affected people of the airport in the Mopa, Sawant said that all projects related to the airport will be resolved with their support.
“Not only those of us who want to finish the airport, we also want the development of the Mopa Village, Pernem Taluka and the State, and the state (government) working in this direction,” he said.
Taking a little digging on environmental lovers to “not plant a single tree”, he said that the five lakh trees planted by the government will also be fostered by the government.
“We have planted trees containing fruit so as to maintain the balance of the environment,” he said.
Sawant said that only the way the Mopa is now becoming popular, the state government wants development for the Pernem.
