Loss of MSRTC RS 6.5K CR: Minister of Transport

Aurangabad: Loss of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has reached Rs 6,500 Crore and the increase in fuel prices recently added Rs 2 Crore per day with losses, the Minister of Transportation Anil Paratab said on Friday.
On a visit here to examine two bus stations and regional workshops from the government managed business, Parab said that the loss rate of Rs 6,500 Crore included Rs 2,750 Crore caused by the Coronavirus outbreak and the resulting locking.
“To reduce losses, we have started goods transportation services and have deployed 1,100 buses for it, which will soon be upgraded to 2,200 in the next 6 months.
The increase in fuel prices increases losses by Rs 2 Crore per day.
Until now we have no proposals To increase ticket prices.
The ticket increase is one of the options we can think of, “Minister said.
Parab, a senior leader of Shiv Sena, also said MSRTC has signed an agreement with oil marketing companies where around 30 business fuel pumps will be open to ordinary citizens.
“There are also plans to open our bus building workshops to private institutions.
We will provide services that can be repaired to other government institutions.
The state government has provided MSRTC RS 1,000 Crore and Rs 600 Crore in two stages of funds but most of the funds.
But partly Large funds are used to pay staff salaries, “said Parab claiming.
He said MSRTC had booked for 150 electric buses, which could be deployed on routes which were 250 to 400 kilometers long, while a committee was studying the regulation of the charging station infrastructure.
The initial choice for the spread of electric buses was Mumbai-Aurangabad, Pune-Aurangabad, Nasik-Pune, Nasik-Mumbai route, said Minister.
