Lost article: No need to send affidavit

Mumbai: No need to send a written statement while submitting a complaint about missing articles or documents, Mumbai police said on Friday.
Practice requires a written statement before registering a complaint or issuing a certificate on missing articles is illegal, in accordance with the circular issued by the Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrery.
The Commissioner has noticed that often the police demanded a written statement when someone visited the police station to file a complaint about the valuables or missing documents such as passport and checking books, an official said, said an official.
