Pune: Jammed by financial problems, Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) struggled to maintain fuel reserves in the bus depot.
The MSRTC source said the utility suffered a large loss due to a pandemic.
“We no longer have a backup stock of diesel in the depot.
Buses operated on everyday resulting in a situation where there is no fuel.
Some trips are canceled too,” said the official in the Pune MSRTC division to Ti.
Shekhar Channe, Director of the Chairperson of Managing MSRTC, said the corporation did not have the current cash balance, but the problem was resolved mostly.
“The problem came to the fore earlier this month.
We run 10,000 buses every day.
We also tried to increase our non-tariff revenue,” Channe said.
