“The sentiment among business travelers is currently low because of scare Omicron and who is expected to take the victims of the booking during the quarter of January 2022,” said M P Bezbaruah, Secretary General of the Indian Hotel Association.
He observed that 2021 had become years of hope, survival, and subtle recovery for the hotel industry in India.
“Local reliance easing while ensuring aggressive drive vaccination, coupled with the strict protocol implementation to ensure the safety and cleanliness by the hotel provides great assistance and encouragement to confidence among the travel community,” Bezbaruah said.
He explained that the categories such as recreation and staycations saw large uptick in demand by 2021 because travelers were more comfortable visiting locations that could be visited to avoid crowding and immerse the expected experience and said the trend was expected to continue.
“The room per room also has mostly returned to the pre-Covid level as far as the recreational location.
Hotels in various categories in Metros continue to maintain average prices and more likely to return to ordinary prices at this fiscal end,” Bezbaruah said.
