Bhubaneswar: Lower Suktel Irrigation Project in Balangir Regency is expected to be completed in 2023-24 because the state government has accelerated its implementation.
The secretary of the National Water Resources of Anu Garg recently reviewed the progress of the project, along with several other medium and large irrigation projects, which were in implementation.
Garg requested officials to resolve the pending issues related to rehabilitation and resettlement (R & R) and accelerate the construction of land and project development.
Although Chairman of the Minister of Naveen Patnaik has laid the foundation for this project in 2001, its implementation has been postponed for years due to the resistance of the local residents on the issue of R & R.
Sumber said the government has begun to provide alternative land for affected people.
This project is expected to irrigate nearly 32,000 hectares of land in Balangir and Sonepur.
The Implementation Status of Gangadhar Meher’s Lift Channel System is also reviewed by the Secretary of Water Resources.
The project was announced ahead of the 2017 Bawepur election and aimed to irrigate around 25,600 hectares of territo in the area of ​​bawbepur in Bargarh Regency.
“Project progress is satisfactory.
The physical target set for the first quarter is almost achieved.
The emphasis emphasized was given to the implementation of the project on the schedule during the meeting,” said a senior official.
Officials say more than Rs 1200 Crore will be spent on the expected project before 2023-24.
Among other things, the progress of the series of a series of anandapur, the Irrigation Project for Chitratpola Island, Subaranekha Irrigation Project, the Right and Left Canal Project, Kanupur Irrigation Project and the Chheligada Irrigation Project reviewed.
