Jammu: Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday launched a night flight operation at Jammu Airport when he marked the flight late the first night of Jammu to Delhi.
The airport has combined the runway expanded 1,300 feet with the existing runway and all allied work will be completed on August 31.
Facilities such as an instrument landing system (ILS) and Paint-1 lights have been installed and assigned at the airport.
“Having a night flight operation will provide encouragement to the local economy, investment by increasing air connectivity and increasing footfall tourism in the region.
It will also provide a much-needed flexibility for the residents of the Jammu Division to travel to the national capital and so on,” said Sinha.
Administration J & K recently signed the MoU with GO AIR for transportation and subsidized fruits from Jammu and Kashmir by air.
The first consignment of Srinagar cherries and Litchis Jammu each will soon be sent to Dubai and Mumbai.
The formal inauguration of the cargo facility is expected immediately.
