Lucknow: In sensational incident, a contractor was shot dead by an attacker who was transmitted by a bicycle when he oversee the work of the demolition and reconstruction of a house in Krishnanagar at around 17:30 on Sunday.
The contractor was identified as a Pratap Mahendra, 40, a resident of Kakori / Saadatganj.
The police recovered two aadhaar cards in his name mentioning various residential addresses.
The police said the attacker opened 2-3 rounds of fire and the contactor suffered at least two shots, including one in the temple.
The motive behind the crime has not been confirmed.
The house, which was destroyed, owned by Anil Shukla from Vijaynagar, a contractor in the transportation business.
DCP, Central, Khyati Garg said the police got a call from up112 police control room informing that a man had been shot in Krishnanagar.
“The victim was rushed to Lok Bandhu Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
It was not ascertained how many times he was shot.
The forensic team gathered evidence and worked in the case with the local police,” he said.
DCP said the team had been conceded to arrest the attackers.
“Police scan CCTV recordings to find out the murderers’ escape routes.
We also tried to track the route they took to reach the crime scene,” he said.
The police have recovered two live cartridges and several bullets from the place.
Initial investigations revealed that a house owned by the Anil Shukla contractor was destroyed by Mahendra and his partner aslam on the contract.
