LUCKNOW: Five patients lost the struggle to black disease disease or mucormycosis whereas 11 new cases were reported in town hospitals around Friday.
The five patients who died were under treatment in King George’s Medical University (KGMU) and have been known by physicians in different cities: 2 from Kanpur and one each from Lakhimpur Kheri, Mainpuri and Manikpur (Bihar).
“Three of these were Covid-19 confident when they contracted mucormycosis, while just two got infected after beating novel coronavirus.
All of us were diabetic and have been known to KGMU in advanced phase of the illness.
In four patients, the disease had reached the mind, although the fifth person had grown septicaemia,” explained KGMU spokesperson Dr Sudhir Singh.
One of the new cases, eight were hospitalised in KGMU, two in Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) and one in Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS).
The death toll because of this disease has mounted to 30 along with the tally into 299.
In addition, 13 black disorder sufferers have undergone operation at KGMU within the previous 24 hours.
