Lucknow: Clerics to Hold Interfaith Meet Over ‘Hijab’ Row

Lucknow: Clerics in the Indian Islamic Center (ICI) on Thursday decided to hold an interwade conference with various religious heads to find solutions to hatred spread across the country, especially in the background of the hijab line in Karnataka.
In a meeting in ICI, the scholars described the importance of headscarves for women, as stipulated in the Hadith of the Koran and the Prophet Muhammad.
“The hijab is a religious duty of a Muslim woman, and the Indian Constitution in Article 25 allows every citizen to practice their religion according to the choice.
Stopping students from attending educational institutions in their headscarves is a direct attack on their religious freedom,” said Head of ICI Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali.
“The constitution also guarantees every citizen for education.
From this point of view, the Karnataka government erodes constitutional rights,” he added.
Expressing concern for this problem, Clerics said that if students were deposited with the religion of their classmates, the country’s future would worry.
“We have decided to immediately hold an extraordinary conference against hatred which are doubled with different religious heads to come up with a joint solution to the peace, prosperity and future of our nation,” he added.
