Lucknow: Price of Skyrocket Dried Fruit

Lucknow: With the Taliban seize power in Afghanistan and stop all foreign trade, the prices of dried fruits such as cashew nuts, almonds, walnuts, raisins, Pista (Pistachios) and Safron have witnessed a steep increase in the city.
With the festival season that has been seen, the association of traders believes that buying dried fruit will be an expensive business because prices are expected to increase further.
They believe there will be shortcomings or even no dried fruit supplies if alternative settings are not made as early as possible.
According to Lucknow Kirana Traders Association, in the last 15 days, the RS 250 Crore business has been affected in the city.
Lucknow traders transport dry fruits from Mumbai and Delhi imported from Afghanistan.
“Afghanistani raisins and cashew nuts are the most popular dried fruits imported.
However, with reduced supply and climbing prices from Delhi and Mumbai, we are forced to increase price prices here,” said Akhilendra Gupta, Member, Yahiaj Kirana Association.
According to the record, the price of almonds almost doubled while cashew prices have been carried out by Rs 200.
Similarly, the price of raisins and Makhana has also been produced by Rs 30 respectively.
Members of the Kirana Association said that in the season the dry fruit business festival was around Rs 200 Crore in the city.
“The increase rates will not only drill a hole in the customer’s pocket but also produce a big loss for traders,” said Vikram Garg, Secretary, Aminabad Kirana Association.
The price of Heeng (Asafoetida) is also expected to rise in the coming month if the situation remains the same.
This is the only spice imported from Afghanistan.
