LUCKNOW: Lucknow University-affiliated colleges that are facing difficulty in conducting online classes can now use LU’s own learning management system, SLATE that promises more features as compared to other video conferencing apps for online classes.
After paying a certain usage fee the colleges can use it.
The decision was taken during the finance committee meet on Saturday.
“An affiliated college needs to pay Rs 10,000 for using SLATE for an undergraduate or postgraduate course.
This fee will be for one year,” said a senior official.
Also during the meeting, approval to start the Institute of Advanced Molecular Genetics and Infectious Diseases at ONGC Centre for Advanced Studies was given.
The institute will offer two courses of MSc in Molecular and Human Genetics and Diploma in Skill development in processing and value addition of medicinal and aromatic plants.
“The courses passed in finance committee will help in the development of human resources in specialized skills of molecular diagnostics and drug testing.
It will enhance the technical skills of students and provide better prospects in research and development divisions in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and health care industries,” said LU spokesperson Durgesh Srivastava.
He said it will also provide opportunities for research career in biomedical genetics.
