Ludhiana: Two cousin sisters belonging to two villages in Ludhiana district tied the wedding knot in a temple in an undisclosed area.
While the family of a girl from Swaddi Kalan Village has decided to reveal it, another girl family, based in Swaddi Paschim Village, has received the marriage.
The couple got support from brothers from one of the girls, who were there at their marriage and did ‘Kanyadan’.
The problem was revealed when the wedding video became a viral on Tuesday.
In the video, the couple can be seen exchanging bouquets in the temple.
Sarpanch from Swadi Kalan Lal Singh said though people were surprised by the marriage, they could not do much when they married and the girl’s cousin had received it.
He said Sarpanch from the village had told him that they had no problems with trade unions.
But the elderly from another girl, 21, has decided not to see her face again or let it come to their place.
Sarpanch said two years ago, the duo tried to get married, but Pancrayat had to intervene because there was a threat on it.
The source in the village said the sister also lived with her sister at her in-laws.
They said his wife with two children lived with his parents.
SSP (Ludhiana Rural) Chararjit Singh said if the duo adult, the police did not have any role if they married.
What is important, after the Supreme Court canceled part 377 from IPC in 2018, the LGBTQ community has demanded the right of marriage similar to heterosexual pairs.
