Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner handed Padma Shri to Gurmat Sangeet Legend Prof. Kartar Singh

Ludhiana: On behalf of the President of India, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma on Monday handed Padma Shri who was prestigious for “Gurmat Sangeet” Legend Prof.
Kartar Singh.
Prof.
Kartar Singh was awarded Padma Shri because of his extraordinary contribution to the field of art and because of his health problems, he could not attend his functions.
Because of which, Deputy Commissioner has submitted Padma Shri to Prof.
Kartar Singh, who currently admits at the Hero DMC Heart Institute.
His family members including Manjit Kaur and Sukhbir Kaur, Sons Amarjit Singh and Amritpal Singh, son-in-law of Amarjit Kaur, and grandchildren, were also present on that occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma specifically congratulated Prof.
Kartar Singh and his family members for this award.
He said that Prof.
Kartar Singh was awarded several prestigious awards for his contribution to Gurbani, which he had practiced since the age of 13 years and has been specializing in the form of popular classical music “Tanti Saaz”.
Prof.
Kartar Singh is one of the legends “Gurmat Sangeeet”, who pursued his career in teaching music.
Expressing gratitude to the government to recognize his services, his family members, thank the deputy commissioner to come specifically to submit a prestigious Padma Shri.
The Government Government has given him the Sangeet Natak Academy and Tagore Ratna Award award for music.
He is also the recipient of the Shiromani yeast for the Punjab government, and the senior fellowship of Gurmat Sangeet in Punjabi University.
He also conferred the Sikh Lifetime Achievement Award in London (UK) on October 9, 2011, and was also nominated for the top 100 global sikh by the Sikh directory in the UK.
Singh also has five books, with a total of more than 40,000 copies, on “Gurmat Sangeeet”, which was published by SGPC, for his credit, while two other books were published.
Born in Ghummane Village in Lahore (Pakistan) on April 3, 1928, Singh has committed graduation and graduation in music (vocals and instrumental) from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
