Chennai: DMK has nominated M Abdullah as his candidate for Bypoll September-13 to Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu.
Bypoll Duca with Dead Aiadmk Rajya Sabha Mohammedjan Member in March this year.
A former Wing Youth DMK official, Abdullah is the young and upcoming DMK leader from Tirumayam in the Pudu District district.
He made a secretary with the wing of the welfare of the NRI party in January.
By nominiting Abdullah to fill vacancies made by the death of Mohammedjan, DMK has chosen to nominate Muslim candidates to maintain minority support.
Mohammedjan was chosen to be the RS in July 2019 and his term of office will expire in 2025.
With DMK having his own majority, Abdullah is likely to be selected without repositioning to the upper house and will be in the next four years.
“Abdullah is active on social media and close to members of our party’s young party (Stalin).
He is the choice of Udhayanidhi,” said a source on DMK.
