Chennai: Madras High Court on Tuesday refused to entertain pills that accused multi-crore fraud in Madurai Central Prison in supplying stationery to the State Government and Justice Department.
Indicates that the applicant mainly rely on audit reports to prove his suspicion, the first bench of the acting chairman of Judge Munishwar Nath Bhandari and Justice P Daudikesavalu said: “Audit reports cannot be conclusive evidence.” When the applicant tried to withdraw the application with the freedom to submit a new application more specifically, the court rejected the pill withdrawn.
The advocate of Pugalenthi was submitting that prison authorities had cheated money for Rs 30 Crore songs by changing supply records.
Prisoners in Middle Prison Madurai are involved in the manufacture of stationery such as envelopes that will be supplied to various government departments.
The authorities responsible for supply mingling around Rs 30 Crore from June 2019 to June 2021 by modifying the supply bill, the Petitioner said.
For example, on July 7, 2019 the Madurai District Court received 5,000 small envelopes, 5,000 medium-sized envelopes and 250 bearings files from prison, however, the bill was modified as if 50,000 small envelopes, 1.00,000 medium-sized envelopes and 1, 50,000 large envelopes were provided, he said.
Claiming that the authorities failed to act on some representations carried out on the prison authorities, the Petitioner wanted the court to direct DVAC to take over investigation.
