Madras univ to Possess Professional Panel Manage teaching, Study

CHENNAI: The University of Madras on Friday chose to create a high-level specialist committee of retired vice-chancellors and professors to counsel and examine the standard of research and teaching activity in the college.
A settlement to make the committee was first passed from the college syndicate, which met on Friday following three weeks.
“The committee could possess former UGC officials, retired vice-chancellors, retired academics from University of Madras along with other universities, both industrialists and IT specialists.
In addition, we plan to participate Indian academics working in overseas universities.
The committee can help improve quality of instruction, study and placements while preparing the college for future education – schooling 4.0,” stated vice-chancellor S Gowri, including the higher education section has supported the transfer.
The college has also made a decision to produce a new syndicate committee for infrastructure and technology improvement to satisfy online instruction and evaluation.
The institute has chosen to present a new optional newspaper on Thirukkural for many undergraduate students from the forthcoming academic year.
“Thirukkural for Professional Ethics, will soon likely be released among the optional courses in most UG programmes in related schools, the college will pick the syllabus,” he explained.
Sources said a few syndicate members also have requested the college to launch a white paper on its own present financial status and particulars of capital transferred from several accounts in the last few weeks to meet wages and retirement expenditure.
“Because of fiscal crisis, the college has transferred funds from several accounts before also, however the syndicate was constantly advised about it.
We do not know if capital needed to be transferred recently because the syndicate couldn’t match for the last few months because of this outbreak,” an associate said.
The members have requested the college to convene meetings each month.
Many members have asked the higher education section to launch complete salary grants to the college without cutting capital mentioning audit objections.
Greater education secretary D Karthikeyan, manager of research C Chokalingam were one of those that participated at the assembly.
