MADURAI: Until a couple of months prior to the pandemic struck, A Raja had been a well-paid mechanic in a shipyard in Singapore.
He left that behind and returned to his native town and awakened an autorickshaw to make a livelihood.
Now, an automobile driver-turned-multi-purpose hospital employee, the 30-year-old was providing free rides on Covid-19 infected individuals for the last two weeks.
Hailing out of Sellur, Raja had dropped his livelihood through a year’s lockdown.
A degree holder in mechanical engineering, he also took up the task of a multipurpose employee in the Covid-19 block of Government Rajaji Hospital as funding worker to a monthly salary of Rs 9,500.
Subsequent to the conclusion of the shift at 4 pm, then he also provides free rides on Covid-19 infected folks.

Nurses and other hospital employees would also call him for picking up and dropping contaminated folks.
“I’ve so much given complimentary rides to over 30 individuals.
I’m happy that my car is of aid to individuals in need.
