Madurai: City Police have registered a case under the prevention of cruelty towards the animal law and is investigating the incident of a man in the Karimedu area which beat a wild dog.
It follows the complaint made by an activist of animal rights that cites the video distributed in the WhatsApp group.
City-based activists Hassija said in his complaint that he received a video showing a wild dog was beaten to death with a stone by a man who was not known as a message that was forwarded on WhatsApp on December 22.
“CCTV footage video on December 21 is forwarded in the WhatsApp group named Madurai Blue Cross by one of its members.
It shows a man taking a large stone and brutally hitting a wild dog lying peace on the side of the road on his head.
He walked away after that but returned to Hit him again with other stones, “he said.
Activists noted that it was difficult to ensure video sources because it was officially no Indian Cross (BCI) in Madurai.
“Unfortunately, in case of cruelty of animals, not many are ready to advance to pursue legal action,” he added.
Karimedu police who registered the case said they did our best to track the defendant.
“Although it is thought to occur in the Karigedu area, we are not 100% sure.
The number of vehicle plate in the video is not clear enough to be tracked.
We are still trying to find out the scene,” said a police officer.
