An earthquake of 5.3 hit the area of Western Australia which rarely populated, 24 km (15 miles) from the small town of Marble Bar, said US geological survey on Saturday.
The European Mediterranean Seismology Center (EMSC) said the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.9, and was at a depth of 40 km (25 miles).
This area has a very hot desert climate.
