Nagpur: Round Administration of Mass Medicines (MDA) to eliminate lymphatic filariasis (hattirog in local languages) back.
Six districts in Maharashtra – Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Yavatmal and Nanded will start these rounds since July 1.
With this, Maharashtra will be the first country in the country to start the second trip after the second wave of Covid-19.
Officials told Tii Drive will be completed in 15 days.
Last year, this drive was held in 18 districts, including Nagpur.
However, when other districts have increased in the transmission assessment survey (bag), now only six districts will have a drive.
The five of these six districts came from Vidarbha, with four of them from the Nagpur division.
Of the six districts, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur and Bhandara will carry out crucial triple drug therapy (IDA).
The combination of three anti-filarial drugs (ivermectin, diethylcarbamazine (DES) and Albendazole) will be sent to residents in these three districts.
Others will get the two drugs I.e Diethylcarbamazine (DES) + Albendazole.
This year, all drives will be made after the appropriate behavior of Covid.
The tablet will be distributed in a personalized bowl for each family member.
“Bhandara has failed twice in a bag and therefore we have a special focus in this district,” said Dr.
Sanjeev Jadhav, director of additional health services, Filaria.
“Overmectin is prescribed for covid patients often during the second wave of pandemic.
The five-day courses are prescribed for covid patients.
Even after recovering from it, they can go for Ida therapy.
We give it very little,” added Jadhav.
Dr.
Nupur Roy, an additional director, a national vector-driven disease control program (NVBDCP), the Indian government, said public support for this encouragement was a must.
Talking about the drive in the middle of Covid-19, Dr.
Archana Patil, Director of Health Services, Filaria, said, “Covid-19 has taught us, now more than ever, it is very important we integrate public health programs in the systemic and ground floor.
We Will follow all the security measures.
The popular unique bowl method will be used, “he said.
Under this method, a separate clean and dry bowl is given for each recipient in the family and the drug administrator leaves a tablet in a particular bowl.
The physical distance is maintained because of this.
The State Health Department has set the target of drug administration to 65% of the population in Yavatmal, Nanded and Gondia, while 85% of the population in Bhandara, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli will be borne.
The drug administrator will ensure beneficiaries consume tablets in front of it.
Officials accept that the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic has created obstacles in the encouragement against filariasis.
