Pune: Complete vaccination of health care workers and the forefront of Maharashtra against Covid is still floating around 90% even though the state is trying to accelerate inoculation after the emergence of new Omicron variants.
The target of the state is to vaccinate all recipients of adult benefits with the first dose and those who have missed a second shot on December 31.
However, it has not yet vaccinated 100% beneficiaries in the category of health workers and frontline, with whom the inoculation program has begun.
Maharashtra on Tuesday crossed the Covid 120 million vaccine dose.
Official records until December 5 (Sunday) revealed 4.4 Crore people have so far received both covid vaccine doses.
A total of 17 districts continue to be lagging behind in terms of vaccinating health workers.
In the frontline worker category, 19 districts are behind the country’s average.
The lowest complete vaccination among health workers has been registered in Jalna (79.4%), followed by Aurangabad (82.5%) and Sindhudurg (82.9%).
Among the frontline workers, the lowest vaccination was registered in the Gondia (79.6%), followed by Jalna (82.1%) and Osmanabad (83.1%).
A senior government official associates the trend for the possibility of many frontline workers taking second dose in the general category.
“It’s been 10 months since vaccination begins.
There is no other reason that might be in addition to vaccine doubts,” the official said.
