Maha Agriculture Min Order Action Against Insurance Companies

Amravati: Not happy with the lethargic attitude towards IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company in terms of settling farmers’ plant insurance claims in the district, Agriculture Minister Maharashtra Dadji Bhuse on Sunday ordered registration for the company.
The company is appointed as handling plant insurance schemes in the Amravati district.
A total of 1,72,655 farmers in the district have used this Kharif season scheme.
From them, 3,291 farmers have applied for insurance claims remembering the damage caused by their plants.
However, the company allegedly did not act immediately to resolve claims.
Taking know this, Bhuse, who is in the district to visit places that receive excessive rainfall and suffer large losses, directly to the insurance company office and find that it is not determined according to the norms set.
He also did not receive a satisfying reply from the company’s officers about the delay in completing the claims of farmers.
The Minister ordered registering violations of the company and also warned administrative officers actions if they were found to support or support the company.
About 6.98 lakh hectares in the district are under the planting of Kharif and sowing have been carried out in more than 6.74 lakh hectares so far.
The district has received 392.50mm rainfall since June.
