Mumbai: State and City reported a Covid case increase on Wednesday, but the weekly indicator showed the spread of infection in the decline.
The Weekly Point Level (WPR) from the State fell to 17.2% on Wednesday, down from nearly 24% last week.
Mumbai reported the lowest WPR 3.6% against almost 8% last week.
The state added 18,067 cases, a 25% surge in the last 24 hours, while death fell from 94 to 79.
Mumbai, after reporting less than 1,000 daily cases for two consecutive days, seeing marginal increase with 1,121 registered on Wednesday.
There are 10 deaths in the city.
Suresh Kakani, commissioner of additional municipalities, said cases and death consistently showed a decrease trend.
With only 95% of Covid beds occupied, BMC can think of downsizing some Jumbo Field Hospital, he added.
The state renewal of the Covid submitted in a cabinet meeting shows active cases have dropped by 34% against last week.
The addition of weekly cases has fallen cross-district with Mumbai reported a 67% decline.
However, there are still more than 24% of districts with WPR higher than the average country.
Gadchiroli leads to 46% WPR.

Pradeep kicked, a state surveillance officer, said that almost all districts, including their company, peri-urban and rural, had begun to see a decline in the case.
“The fall in case is not only in Mumbai and Pune, but almost in all parts.
We can continue to see higher deaths for one or two weeks,” he said.
In the case of cases per million populations, Maharashtra is behind five countries, but it appears second after carnataka in active cases.
