MAHA: API in Gandhidham-Puri Express, no one was injured

Mumbai: A fire occurred in the Gandhidham-Puri Express train pantry car on Saturday when it was near the Nandurbar train station in Maharashtra, but no one was injured in the incident, officials said.
The fire erupted around 10:35 when the Odisha-bound train (12993) was entering the train station, a statement issued by the head of a Western train spokesman said.
The train has 22 coaches and pantry cars are one-13.
After the fire, the pantry car is separated from the front and the back of the train is around 10:45.
The fire extinguisher available at the station and inside the train used to extinguish the fire, he said, added that no one was injured.
The fire department was immediately told and the personnel arrived at the place at 11, he added.
A medical team, paramedic staff and senior train officers who rushed to the location to take stock situation, said the statement.
A police officer said, “Because of the fire, the smoke was swallowed by a pantry car, which triggered panic between passengers and some of them even jumped out of the train because it moved slowly.
The train was immediately taken to stop.” The fire was watered by around noon, he said, adding that the cause behind the flames was being confirmed.
Nandurbar Regency, located northwest of Maharashtra, about 450 km from Mumbai.
