Pune: The State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has begun fresh hunting for the right location to establish a sophisticated dog training school proposed near Pune.
With problems related to distance, legal obstacles and proximity to the shooting range that burdens two previously allocated land in Daund and Wadachiwadi, Cid has started fresh hunting for the right location to regulate the proposed dog training school.
Cid trained puppies, three months old, for a period of six months.
They were trained to identify narcotics, explosives and to pursue suspects involved in burglary houses and crimes such as murder and rape.
“We are working on 25 acre land in Baramati, which is enough to arrange facilities,” said Head of Cid Ritesh Kumar to Ti.
Until now, the Cid dog training school operates out of the Shivajinagar police headquarters.
This facility is small because it can accommodate only 26 dogs and does not have facilities such as the hostel for dog handling.
Seven years ago, the state government had allocated 13acre land in Daund, but Cid did not continue to obtain land because of the distance from the city and other legal issues.
Last year, the country gave land 5acre in Wadachiwadi near Kondhwa, but close to the police shoot range.
“We conducted a land feasibility study and found that continuous shots would disturb the dog.
In such an atmosphere, it would be difficult to train them,” said Cid’s head.
