Mumbai: In a movement that not only surprises the preparation of travelers but also customers, the State Excise Ministry has increased the restored annual excise cost of all bars by 15% and as much as 70% for wine stores.
Gazette notification for the effect was issued on Friday.
The increase had come when the bar and restaurant owner had searched 50% neglect to overcome losses made due to a series of locking.
Previously, the cost for the bar was Rs 6.93 lakh per year, which has been revised to 7.97 lakh rs per year.
For wine stores, the increase was Rs 21 Lakh from RS 15 Lakh before.
The Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association (Ahar), The Apex Body of the Industry, has condemned a 15% increase in excise fees, indicating that the hospitality industry has been beaten badly, especially the hotel and restaurant segments, because of the frequency.
Locking is worn by the state to curb a pandemic.
Ahar said the increase would be a big blow to this industry, especially when the association had asked the state to neglect 50% in the permit space or bar license fee to support the surrounding industry.

Shivanand Shetty, President, Ahar said: “We have all the reasons to doubt the government’s intention to support this industry.
How is this industry expected to survive like that, which kills the industry that produces maximum employment opportunities and also revenue.”
